Things I Learned in September

Things I Learned in September

  1. Toddlers have no sense of time. If you wake up to use the bathroom at 2am you might as well play in the sink afterward. Party time!
  2. Clothes shopping is much more enjoyable and productive when my sisters are around. I get honest opinions and try on (and like) things I never would have otherwise. Janna and Bethany, let’s go thrifting again!
  3. Fit, quality, and likability over quantity and cheapness. Why is it so hard for me to learn this lesson? I have too many clothes, most of them I never wear. I bought it most likely because it was cheap and I liked it okay. What a waste of closet space and money. One or two well fitting pairs of jeans are far more useful than 10 I don’t like that just end up taking up space. (I have a mound of clothes to pitch in my room and more to go through.)
  4. When you have children, vacations mean something different. No longer are they for your rest and enjoyment but instead are for your children’s sake and making memories. Exhausting but oh so fun.
  5. Budgeting and saving makes spending money more fun! Vacation was much more enjoyable this time around. We were careful what we spent on but I didn’t spend the entire trip pinching pennies and agonizing over each dollar we parted with.

Shopping is more fun with sisters. I was able to do that for the first time in over 5 years and it was delightful. I also agree with making sure things fit right, etc. I sometimes just settle too quickly for something that works but I later find out it doesn’t work. Hopefully I am getting better at it but still have a ways to go.

5 years is a long time! So glad you were able to have sister time. It’s too much fun. Oh I know, me too. Then the first or second time I wear something iffy I bought I wonder what I was thinking and how in the world I didn’t notice how terribly it fitted.
