It was a fun week for our family! My sister had her third baby (my first niece) on my mom’s birthday. I can’t wait to get to hold her. She was a tiny thing. Two days later another sister got engaged on my little brother’s thirteenth birthday. Hooray for growing families!
Coming next week I’ll have a series on kitchen tools, appliances, and essentials that I thought my sister might find useful as she and her fiance plan their registries. You might find an idea or two on the list for your own kitchen or to use as gift ideas too.
She wanted to have a picnic on the living room floor.
We have started our second week of being wheat free. Our little guys face is looking better but I don’t know if it’s from no wheat, the heater not being used as much, or him just getting older. I guess we’ll see if there continues to be improvement and observe what happens when we add wheat back in at the end of the experiment.

What inspired you to go wheat-free? I’ve been contemplating it for my family.
My 10 month old has eczema so we are trying to eliminate different things to see if it makes any difference. We are going wheat free until Easter and then we’ll see if his face is cleared up at all. If no difference I think we are going to try dairy. I’m hoping that even if we add wheat back in, we’ll cut back on how much we eat.
What an exciting week for your family. Congrats on the new niece! Following your wheat free experiment with interest since my daughter’s eczema has been particularly stubborn lately.
Thanks, Janet! I just wish I lived closer to my sisters. The one that had the baby is 12 hours away in MN. At least I know there’s a wedding in the future were we’ll all get to see each other.
Aww. Sorry about your daughter’s eczema. Spencer’s got a little worse yesterday. I don’t know how long it takes the wheat to get out of your body – it had been a week. So I’m really curious to see if we’ll see a difference in the next month or if we experiment with something else.
Is it just me or is “Mansfield Park” taking FOREVER?! I feel like I’ve been reading it for months. Oh, I think I have!
Oh my goodness!!! Me too! I’m having such a hard time getting into this book. I think I’m not even quite half way. I better get on it or I’m going to be behind the rest of the year. Definitely enjoyed P and P much more.
Oh man. Could I go for some peanut butter cookies right now.
That is awesome that you are doing Scripture memorization with your 3 year old. Are you following anything specific?
I know! I hadn’t made peanut butter cookies in a long time and they were tasty. Unfortunately, we already ate them all. Does that mean it’s time to bake something else? 🙂
So far I’ve just been selecting verses for her to memorize. Pretty soon I want to either try and start the beatitudes passage or psalm one and have her try memorizing something longer than 1 verse! It will be good for me too. I’m horrible about making myself memorize.
What an exciting week for all of you. I hope your able to find the source of your son’s eczema. We’ve made oatmeal blender pancakes. They turned out really well. I hope you have a great week.
Thanks, Shelly! It was pretty fun. Now I can’t wait until I can hold my little niece and hug my sister. I hope we can as well! It will be interesting to see if his face has cleared up in another month or if we move on to something else. Glad that the pancakes are good!
CONGRATS on a growing family! They are so lucky to have you too! Hoping your little guy’s eczema is getting better too. Thanks for a terrific blog. Carrie, A Mother’s Shadow
Thanks, Carrie!!! It’s pretty exciting. I can’t wait to get to hold the little girl. Wish she didn’t live 12 hours away. . . At least we’ll all be together for the wedding. Spencer had a bit of a flare up yesterday but other than that his face was looking good. We’ll see what happens the next month.
